Our lives are short and precious, but if we will seek God, He will show us why we have been given the amazing opportunity to live on this earth. In order to accomplish all He has called us to and created us for, we must make some adjustments in our lives. Let's get passionate, dream big, and make room for greater things so we will reach our greatest potential and fulfill our God-given destiny!
Let's Declare the Following Statements Out Loud as an Introduction:
My thoughts are pure, healthy, and excellent.
My words are strengthening, encouraging, and comforting.
My actions are righteous, intentional, and they positively impact the lives of others.
I leave room in my schedule to spend time with God and to diligently serve Him.
I avoid negative influences and I surround myself with positive people that are champions.
I dream big and I seek to know and live out God’s plan for my life.
I am making adjustments in my life so there will be more room for God to do in me & through me His perfect and pleasing will.
Making Room in Our Thoughts
Proverbs 23:7 says that “as a person thinks in their heart, so they are.” Our inward thoughts define who we are really are. Our thoughts determine our words, our words determine our actions, our actions determine our life. Make room in your thought life for more excellent, edifying, and God-pleasing thoughts.
Making Room in Our Words
The book of James says that our words steer our lives just as easily as a small rudder steers a huge boat. Take some time and really think about what you’re saying about yourself and others. Are you cutting yourself down with your own words? Are you setting yourself and others up for failure because of what is coming out of your mouth? Even if it’s not a reality right now, you need to start declaring things over yourself and the people around you that you believe are God’s desire and will. Words have the power of life and death. They are seeds that produce fruit in our own lives and within the lives of others.
Making Room in Our Actions
Just like a farmer throwing seed on the ground, our actions will eventually bear fruit in our lives. Bad deeds will produce death, destruction, and failure while good deeds will produce life, blessing, and promotion. We must stop thinking that others have power over us and realize we have responsibility over our own future. A person is rewarded or punished as a result of their actions. What are we building? Are we building a shack on sand or a mansion on rock? The Bible says that each person’s life deeds will be evaluated by the Lord and tested by fire. Will the cumulative fruit of our actions stand God’s test?
Making Room in Our Schedule
There are only so many hours in a day. There is only so much we can do when we are not at school or our full time jobs. You have to have the discipline and drive to work on your dream during your part time hours if you ever hope to one day live your dream out during your full time hours. The Bible admonishes us in Ephesians 4:1 to live a life worthy of the calling we have received. Does our daily schedule reflect God’s will for our life as well as the goals and dreams we hope to attain in the future? Are we wasting time or are we doing our best to squeeze every bit of living and life out of each day we are alive?
Making Room in Our Circle of Friends
Who are we spending our time with? We are a product of our environment. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:33 that bad company corrupts good character.
Making Room in Our Plans & Dreams
The Bible says in Ephesians 3:20 that God is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine. Are your dreams for your life your dreams or God’s dreams for your life? God's dreams are the best and they will prove to be abundantly more rewarding and satisfying than anything we can dream up on our own.
Are you hoping to just get by in life, have a good job, raise a family, and one day retire? Or do you believe that God has a unique assignment for you; an amazing plan that He has created and called you to accomplish during your time on this earth?
Let’s take inventory of everything we think, say, and do. Let’s take a close look at our schedule, our circle of friends, and what our plans & dreams are. Are these things aligned with who God is and what He is doing and wants to do in our lives? God is limitless and like a good Father He wants to see us prospering and thriving. God is limitless and the Bible says that He can do for us more than all we can ask or imagine. Therefore, we are only limited by our own thoughts, words, and actions. God wants so badly to see us overcoming our obstacles and soaring high like an eagle for His glory. He has Heavenly storehouses already filled and reserved for us that contain resources and opportunities that are beyond our wildest dreams. All we have to do is align our lives with what God is revealing to us and as we are faithful, God will release these resources and opportunities into our daily lives.
The life you are living now does not have to be the best it’s ever going to be. God desires for your life to become brighter and brighter the longer you are on this earth. He doesn’t want you to plateau or become stagnant. He hopes that you will be constantly learning, growing, and becoming more mature & equipped to accomplish the task He has assigned to you.
